Artist Print Series 004 – Shane Darwent

60.00

The fourth in our Artist Print Series, by Shane Darwent.

Shane Darwent is a studio artist whose work explores the materials, forms and spaces of the American working class. Focused on the connective tissue of the commercial thoroughfare, Darwent reconsiders the built vernacular of our stripmall facades, parking lot designs, gas station landscapes and the modest residential environments they facilitate as sites woven from the alternating threads of aspiration and illusion. Exhibiting internationally, Darwent has been an artist-in-residence at Ragdale, the Ucross Foundation and the Jentel Artist Residency Program, as well as a Core Fellow at Penland School of Crafts. He holds his MFA from the University of Michigan and a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Recent exhibitions include the Spencer Brownstone Gallery in New York, the Art Gallery of Windsor, Wasserman Projects in Detroit, Belger Arts Center in Kansas City, the Spring Break Art Show, Oklahoma Contemporary and La Bodega y Más during Miami Art Basel. Darwent’s work will be included in the forthcoming publication, 100 Sculptors of Tomorrow, by Thames & Hudson. He is currently an artist-in-residence at the Tulsa Artist Fellowship in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
